Eduen - Putting U in the middle of Eden

Dome it! is actually part of the Eduen Federation - a collection of sustainable companies, technologies, individuals and innovations working together under one umbrella. Eduen - Putting U in the middle of Eden.

The idea is to build experiential, ecological teaching villages around the world. Each village will have some of the same components like dome/gardens and waste mangement facillities, but they will differ depending on which services each location can bare. Eduen has a buffet of alternative health and energy choices to consider when community planning.

Here is the initial vision for the first 33 acre Eduen slated for Gresham, Oregon.

Welcome, Brother Russell Cadotte. We all want to hear your wisdom and your questions too. Everyone is a leader and a teacher.

Karma, you know what I just learned and spoke it well. We can also find the community builder inside ourselves. Community is built form the inside out (inside each of us) and shared with those who are doing the same. From here true bonded community becomes possible...community built on loving respect for self, others, our Earth Mother and all creatures. I am beginning work toward that goal please join me.
In love,
Russ

An intentional community requires a strong common bond and lots of equality. Most people are used to power imbalance...so they set up a system with clearly identified status and degrees of power and then go about vying for the top positions. Not much fun. It is the social cultural and political construct chosen that-in my opinion will make a big difference. And if you don't choose-then you will just use the structures we are accustomed to. Live with intention now-and you may find yourself in an accidental community you really love.

I have been accepted for training at Sahale Learning Center and Eco-Village.
The first training will be this weekend Jan 29 - 31 so I will not be posting this weekend. I will be writing about my experience when I get back.

This series of articles that appeared in Popular Mechanics magazine give a pretty comprehensive view of Off-Grid Technologies as I understand them to date. These solutions are the Cadillac version that can be pricy but the systems are well thought out.
There are low tech versions of much of this which I plan to post as I locate the information and drawings. I hope this will be food for thought. I would greatly appreciate any articles, drawings or ideas that you can share on this subject.

p.s. I have applied for an internship at the Sahale Learning Center and EcoVillage, to learn about farming and gardening, animal husbandry, off-grid technology, facility maintenance and development, and educational programs both to share with you and to support local efforts here in Seattle. I hope I will be accepted.

My prayers are with the people of Peru that they be protected. I am also praying that balance be restored to our Earth Mother.
