Remembering Prayers With President Hugo Chavez in Caracas, Venezuela, Dec. 9, 2001,

In unity with Angaangaq, Greenland, Deloria Lane Many Grey Horses, Kainai, Ihanktowan Dakota, and Chickasaw Nations and Indigenous Spiritual Leaders from Latin America, a Sacred Pipe is shared with President Hugo Chavez and representatives of the Government of Venezuela at the Installation Ceremony of Guaicaipuro's symbolic remains at the Pantheon of Heroes, on Dec 9, 2002. Venezuela’s Pantheon of Heroes, is the burial place of Simon Bolivar and other Venezuelan Heroes in Caracas, Venezuela.

Guaicaipuro united all the Indigenous Tribes of that region in response to Spanish Colonization efforts. Guaicaipuro was unbeatable in open battle, as was Crazy Horse to the North. Guaicaipuro was ultimately betrayed by some of his own relatives, as was Crazy Horse and Guaicaipuro and his entire family were brutally assassinated by the Spaniards.

President Chavez demonstrated his spiritual respect and honor of the Sacred Ceremonies, the Sacred Pipe and the Hemispheric Indigenous Representatives, by reserving his political perspectives until he went outside to address the thousands of his supporters, who had gathered outside the Pantheon, in honor and respect to the Installation Ceremony for Guaicaipuro.

We wish President Chavez well on his spiritual journey to the Other Side Camp and our prayers are given for all those who are grieving his passing!
