Aboriginal Peoples and Environmental Organizations unified in Burnaby, British Columbia for Protecting the Sacred of Burrard Inlet and related waterways from Tar Sand Oil Tankers and in solidarity with others in Canada and the US who are standing up against Tar Sand Pipelines. Oil Giant, Kinder Morgan, has a plan before the Government of Canada to dredge the Burrard Inlet so that 288 Mega Tankers,each carrying 1 million barrels , can be shipped out yearly via the Burrard Inlet and then through the Strait of Juan de Fuca, from their Tanker Facilities in Burnaby, BC.
The event was opened by Squamish Elder and Spiritual Leader, Robert Nahanee, punctuated throughout by Aboriginal Drummer's and concluded by 13 year old,Ta'Kaiya Blaney, Sliammon First Nation, who sang her Shallow Waters Song. Ta'Kaiya's Song calls for Protecting the Sacred Waters and Lands of British Columbia from Oil Tanker's and Pipelines. More than 300 people attended.
