Faith
Walk on water
Heal the sick
Help those in need
Learn about humanity,
for they are your family
Love yourself and be humble
Look to the sky for strength
Close your eyes and dream
Wake up and begin again
and above all,
have faith in your self
and you will go far....
There is a First Nations child standing in the water, holding a drum showing a fish, which is very symbolic of Christ. He has the wings of an angel giving him freedom, which has been denied our people for so long. The background is of Long Beach, Vancouver Island, and I had the moon placed in the top of the piece, looking down at the child. It is important for our children, the next generation, to know that freedom is a state of mind, it is no longer the way it was. The piece was called “Faith” for that reason, having faith in ourselves and our culture, having faith that things are changing and getting better all the time.
