Information

Walking the Red Road

The Red Road is a long winding road that began in the stars, spilled onto the mountain tops, was carried in the snow to the streams, to the rivers, to the ocean. It covers the whole world, and keeps winding around the Indigenous.

Walking The Red Road

I walk the red road by first asking permission of the First People of Turtle Island where ever I maybe. I love the earth and I am listening to the wisdom of the elders.

Mother Earth is not a resource, but rather the source of life itself.

As I have been reading and meditating on the wisdom here (Walking The Red Road), my heart is overjoyed that so much is being shared to help guide and move us all ever forward on this 'Straight and far-stretching Path'. May all who enter here be blessed and may we all continue together as one. Thank you dear friends for the invitation. Like Velma who commented below, I ask Creator also for the courage to never turn back.

My ancestors walked in the light of our Creator's love! Their journey was long and hard, but through the hard times they sought his guidance and love. It's is this guidanace that help them maintain the traditions they were taught from one generation to the next. It was never written but handed down from one generation to the next through oral history. I was so fortunate to have my great great grandmother, her daughter, then my grandmother and her daughter who were taught the old ways, then my grandmother and aunt were the ones who taught me and is still teaching me . . . even if they aren't with me in body, they are still with me in spirit. I honor the knowledge and tradition with the following poem . . .

"LIFE'S JOURNEY!"

They sought no fame or fortune. . .
But to live one with all of nature . . .
For this was their "LIFE'S JOURNEY . . .

They took from Mother Earth . . .
Only what was needed to provide . . .
For their family to survive . . .
For this was their "LIFE'S JOURNEY!"

They respected what was given to them . . .
By our Creator and Mother Earth . . .
Food to eat, water to drink, fire to keep warm . . .
And all they were asked was. . . to honor the gifters . . .
For this was their "LIFE'S JOURNEY" . . . of respect!

Blessed from the beginning with love . . .
From the Creator and Mother Earth . . .
A love so bountiful and unconditional . . .
Yet all we need was to respect and honor them . . .
For this is our 'LIFE'S JOURNEY!"

For beauty is in the eye of the beholder . . .
Like seeing the beauty of a new day . . .
Watching the sunrise each morning . . .
With all of the Creator's miraculous colors . . .
As the birthing of a new day!
For this is our "LIFE'S JOURNEY!"

To honor and glorfy the Creator and our Mother Earth . . .
Respect all the gift's bestowed upon mankind . . .
And give the gift of love each day of our life . . .
For then we truly allow our ancestors light to shine . . .
From within and through us always . . .
For truly this is our "LIFE'S JOURNEY" . . .
In the light of our life through the love of his grace!

So live your life as traditions and past were once . . .
Honor the ancestors traditional ways as given. . .
Whose spirit still lingers within . . .
Sending an abundance of love . . .
Then we succeed on our "LIFE'S JOURNEY!"
