Eduen - Putting U in the middle of Eden

Dome it! is actually part of the Eduen Federation - a collection of sustainable companies, technologies, individuals and innovations working together under one umbrella. Eduen - Putting U in the middle of Eden.

The idea is to build experiential, ecological teaching villages around the world. Each village will have some of the same components like dome/gardens and waste mangement facillities, but they will differ depending on which services each location can bare. Eduen has a buffet of alternative health and energy choices to consider when community planning.

Here is the initial vision for the first 33 acre Eduen slated for Gresham, Oregon.

The subject of earth friendly technologies often comes face to face with fierce opposition, because of a real or perceived threat to economic interests. I’m sure that has a lot to do with the way these technologies are accepted in developing or under developed countries as opposed to wealthier developed nations. While our primary focus is technology we must also do the work necessary to clear the way for implementation. That may prove to be more challenging than development itself.

Wow! Thanks Carol, I viewed "Just Us For Food Justice" at bioneers.org and saw how inner-city kids are participating in high quality food production and learning together...having fun too. No matter who we are or where we are we can grow something starting right where we are right now.

Hi Russ,
Thank you for helping us to move forward and build together. Here is a great resource for those who are not aware of the momemtum. Bioneers began in the light of San Juan Pueblo in the early 80's.

Ohkay Owingeh was previously known as San Juan Pueblo until returning to its pre-Spanish name in November 2005.

Dear Hawksblood, That may be an idea you could initiate as a group project. We don't really know where this is going to take us I think its good that we are starting a dialogue. We are here to learn from eachother, encourage eachother and build together. Welcome!

Sorry I don’t know the tech info to post this properly but I want it to be available now while I am getting up to speed. If anyone would like to take a more active role and provide technical assistance I’m sure everyone would be grateful.

Thanks Mark, Please share what you know from personal experience and what you find interesting. Your point about Haiti is just one reason we should be having these discussions. I'm hoping people who have ideas and knowledge will find this a place to connect and assist one another. What good is knowledge not shared?

Just for starters I have found these organizations to be involved in research and development that holds exciting promise. http://bfi.org has a variety of topics that might be of interest to you. Buckminster Fuller’s book “Operators Manual for Space Ship Earth” is a classic that still holds relevance. I was looking for an organization called The Green Mandala but I am now unable to find them. If anybody knows about them I would like to know. http://www.permacultureplanet.com is doing similar work reclaiming land and empowering people to feed them selves. You might also find http://www.permaculture.org of interest.

Hi Russell. Other than going back completely to a pre-tech, pre-industrial age, we do need to educate ourselves on technologies that are integrated naturally with Mother Earth. I have lived off the grid a few times in my life and there are so many ways to go about it, that I want to thank you for opening a discussion on what tech exists to help create a self-sufficient, sustainable, and even comfortable way of living.

Haiti is a sad example of how a country, established by slaves as a free and independent state was able to confront and defeat the onslaught of Napoleon's armies when the Haitians lived in small, self-sufficient agrarian communities. Centralized City/State structures that destroyed indigenous spirituality, a spirituality that connected every individual with Mother Earth, are rapidly revealing their unsustainable nature. Rather than be in conflict with the Status Quo, I would like to spend my energy in the development of Intentional Community that is self-sufficient and sustainable.
