The Friday (April 13) evening lecture (7:30-9:30) presented by Phil Lane Jr. will focus on some of the common understandings and synergies between Indigenous cultures and Jungian thought, including quaternity, Life after Death, Jung’s lineage, the Tree of Life, the Power of Archtypes, the Anima and Animus, the Shadow and the Goal of Human Development (Individuation), and other Indigenous/Jungian perspectives ,including the book by Vine Deloria Jr.~" C.G. Jung and the Sioux Traditions-Dreams, Visions, Nature, and Primitive"

Exploring Indigenous and Jungian World Views

The Saturday workshop will focus on Quaternity and the Medicine Wheel and Talking Circles to explore, collectively and individually, the concepts examined during the Friday evening lecture. In that process Phil will also share other personal  experiences and perspectives that further deepen and expand Dr. Jung’s work.

 Phil Lane, Jr. is a Hereditary Chief and enrolled member of the Yankton Dakota and Chickasaw First Nations and an internationally recognized leader in human and community development. He has worked with Indigenous Peoples in the Americas, Micronesia, Southeast Asia, India, Hawaii and Africa. For years he has worked with Four Worlds, an institute for human, community and organizational development focusing on the importance of culture and spirituality in development. He was the first Indigenous person to win the prestigious Windstar Award and received the Year 2000 award from the Foundation for Freedom and Human Rights in Berne, Switzerland. Chief Lane’s film credits include the National Public Television series “Images of Indians,” “Walking With Grandfather,” “The Honor of All: The Story of Alkali Lake,” and “Healing the Hurts.”
