Event Description

THE MEDICINE WHEEL FACILITATOR TRAINING PROGRAM

To date our hundreds of seminars have been very successful. Initially, we intended to train facilitators to deliver Medicine Wheel presentations. But, what started out to be a training session slowly transformed into a sacred circle of sharing and healing. In the training sessions trust is quickly developed and sharing is encouraged and supported by the Elders. We incorporate the teachings of the Medicine Wheel into our seminars and besides the sharing we also laugh, sing, dance and support one another. It is a very memorable occasion and according to many of the evaluations it is…”awesome!”

In the training sessions, we start the week off with an opening prayer by one of our respected Elders, who honour us with their traditional teachings and guidance. This is followed by an explanation of our sacred smudging ceremony and some of the protocol to be aware of when leading this purification rite. The trainer then facilitates a Medicine Wheel presentation, which is followed by a circle check and a closing prayer.

Some of the more salient topics we cover during the week include:

•Smudging and opening and closing prayers
•The role of a Medicine Wheel facilitator
•Visualizations, how and when to use them
•Energizers and impromptu activities
•Residential schools and their impact
•The story of Turtle Island
•The significance of the Eagle landing on the moon
•The legend of the White Buffalo Calf and our Sacred Pipe
•Explanation of the Sweat-lodge ceremony
•Where am I on the Medicine Wheel?
•What is the definition of an Elder?
•Sharing circles
•Sharing a traditional meal
•Offering spirit plates
•Presentation of certificates

Tuition fees ($700.) are used to cover our overhead costs for delivering the training.
