AN INVITATION
to All our Friends and Relations!
You and your friends and family are warmly invited to join us for our ninth annual
HONOR DAY 2009 Circle Ceremony, gathering, fun activities and potluck picnic!
WHEN? Saturday August 22rd, 2009
The formal Honor Circle Ceremony will be awakened at 12:00 noon and the circle will be open to walk all day. Come at 11:00 or so.
WHERE? Beautiful Camp Brotherhood, is located one hour north of Seattle. Directions:
http://www.campbrotherhood.org/contact_us.html then follow the signs to our site.
Focus? This years Hoop is “All My Relations.”
Mitakuye Oyasin is Lakota Sioux for "All My Relations." It is a prayer of oneness and harmony with all forms of life: other people, future generations, animals, birds, insects, trees and plants, rocks and the earth. It reminds us that we are connected to these other aspects of Creation, that we share a common kinship in the Hoop of Life.
A special part of our ceremony will be to write your own sacred promises of honor to leave in the bowl at the center of the circle.
BRING? Friends and family, skills, gifts, and talents, songs, instruments, prayers and stories to share. Also needed if you can: firewood, charcoal, sage, folding chairs for your group and an umbrella or canopy. Cedar branches!
FOOD? Potluck picnic. Please bring your own picnic blanket and supplies, non-alcoholic drinks, food to share, and perhaps something you would like to barbeque (ie: marshmallows too)
ACTIVITIES besides the Honor Day Ceremony:
*Enjoy hiking trails, visiting the working farm: Llamas, emus, pigs, burros, cows, sheep etc.
*We invite people to Honor us with the gift of their talents be they: musical, dancing, or storytelling. Sign up when you RSVP to perform casually or formally, or sign up when you arrive.
*Everyone can both enjoy our growing gallery of mainly children’s posters of “What I Honor” from Folk Life this year, AND all are welcome to create their own on site.
COST: Donation of 1$ or more per person collected there will cover event insurance.
PLEASE RSVP!!!: Kathryn Donald
kathdonald@gmail.com or (206) 522-2590. Important to let us know how many of you are coming, what on the list you will bring and or what talents you will share. Let us know whether you could help us by volunteering a bit there. Tell us how much cedar you will bring and firewood.
We are all LOOKING FORWARD TO A WONDERFUL DAY TOGETHER!
