Event Description

Dear Family and Friends,

We are so thankful and happy to have the privilege of confirming the dates for the eighth annual Harper Mountain 2009 Gathering, near Kamloops, British Columbia. These are from Friday, 25 September at 2:00 pm to Sunday, 27th September at 2:00pm. We invite everyone to please do keep these dates open to come and join in a weekend dedicated to learning to interact with, serve, and engage the Aboriginal peoples of this land in the greatest task, in light of the Revelation of Bahá’u’lláh, to work together towards building a united global community. The learning process of helping to build welcoming communities open to all through participation in the Five Year Plan will continue to be a primary focus. May we please request that this invitation be disseminated to the friends and that special attention be made to contact the Aboriginal friends. Please note that Aboriginal family members and friends that are interested and/or close to the Faith are welcome.

Some aspects of the programme will include the viewing of an excellent made in Canada DVD production on the life of Bahá’u’lláh called “The Promise of All Ages” and is narrated by Michael Enright of CBC Radio; a presentation on the significance of the extraordinary gathering of International Indigenous Leadership held at Lillooet from 30th April to 7th May 2009 at which three Aboriginal Bahá’ís were among the presenters and; story-telling with the children. We are also hopeful to give some time to sharing ideas about plans for a special event by the Aboriginal friends to celebrate the centenary of `Abdu’l-Bahá’s visit to Canada (2012)—a recommendation made at the National Convention. Moreover, Harper provides the forum to consult and share our experiences, challenges, and victories that is so helpful and encouraging.

As we confirm further details regarding logistics and programme content, we shall follow-up with a second letter soon. In the interim, should you have any questions, please contact Gladys Anaquod at glad@jetstream.net or by phone at 250-832-9750 and/or Noni Nault at noninault@yahoo.ca or phone 250-281-4222.

In the Divine Plan bequeathed to you (North America) by `Abdul’-Bahá
is disclosed the glorious destiny of those who are the descendants of the
early inhabitants of your continent. We call upon indigenous believers
who are firmly rooted in the Bahá’í Teachings to aid, through both deed
and word, those who have not yet attained that level of understanding.
(The Universal House of Justice Ridván 1996)

With loving respects to each and everyone,
