A Personal Retreat for Planetary Healers, with Mayan Elder Flordemayo

The sacred Mayan prophecies have stated, "A time will come when the eagle of the north shall meet with the condor of the south. At this time, all the tribes will join together and form a Gathering of Elders. In these gatherings the elders will share their traditions and medicines with each other. When the elders have gathered, they will then disburse to share this ancient knowledge and wisdom with all of humanity." This prophecy has come to pass.
We live in a time when each of us are needed to help the planet heal. How do we do that? What are our roles? We sit and we listen, we pray and we listen some more.

Collectively many hear the call to dream peace back to the people and to the planet. Many feel the urge to access our inner wisdom and share these blessings in everything we do. If you are a dreamer, and you KNOW you are called to the "Mega Work", you probably already know that one of the most important things that we can do is gather together and celebrate life. As we share resources and take time to be with each other in ways that nurture ourselves and each other, we strengthen ourselves and each other. If these words ring true for you we invite you to join us as we dive into the depths and teachings of the universe with Mayan elder, Flordemayo.

We are very blessed to welcome Flordemayo to Maryland and encourage you to join us for this small group intensive with her. As with all GrandMother Teachings, we ask you to be prepared to go with the flow and trust the work. The process of our 2 day retreat and exploration of ways we can help the planet (and ourselves) heal will include prayer, meditation, teaching circles, and dialogue. Music will be ceremonial in nature and instigated by members of Turtle Women Rising.

Flordemayo is a "Curandera Espiritu" (healer by divine spirit). The youngest of 15 children, Mayan elder Flordemayo was born in the big highlands of Central America on the Nicaragua/ Honduras border. She grew up in a family of traditional healers. When she was 4 years-old, Flordemayo began learning the art of "Curanderismo" in the traditional way: taught from mother to daughter, generation to generation. She received her Mayan priest training from Don Alejandro Cirilo Perez Oxlaj, a respected spiritual leader and head of the Quiche Maya Council of Elders.

Flordemayo is a member of the International Council of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers. This is a council of Grandmothers who each share individual visions of an earth in peril. This common theme, and an invitation from CSS, brought them together in October of 2004 to form a council, and begin speaking as a voice of the Earth and Indigenous peoples of the world. The Grandmothers state "the ancestral ways of prayer, peacemaking and healing are vitally needed today...We believe that the teachings of our ancestors will light our way through an uncertain future." The GrandMothers come from the Alaskan Tundra, North, South and Central America, Africa, and Asia, and their gatherings have become joyous events of ceremonial wisdom, now documented in the film "For The Next 7 Generations."
