Fire & Ice 2009 brings increased attention to the significance of the melting of the Big Ice, as well as new recognition and respect for indigenous peoples and their perspectives. This event adds the traditional indigenous voice to the dialogue on global warming and care of the earth, providing a very necessary, missing perspective.
Through Fire & Ice 2009 the indigenous voice powerfully focuses the attention of the world on our most urgent global issue, expanding our awareness and ultimately bringing about the paradigm shift that is of such vital importance to our survival and wellbeing.
The event serves to:
* Raise awareness of the melting of the ice, its dramatic escalation in recent years and its implications for the world. Witnessing the melting Icecap in Greenland is a profound experience.
* Bring together the deepest, most forward-thinking minds of the world and the most respected indigenous leaders to examine the impact of the melting of the Big Ice.
* Bring about the paradigm shift in our global consciousness by adding the ancient knowledge and teachings of the people who have lived on the ice for thousands of years to recent scientific findings.
* Preserve the ancient teachings and the knowledge of the Elders for coming generations.
This event is an indigenous catalyst for the growing movement of global awareness of our relationship to the earth. It contributes powerfully to changing the course of human history at this critical moment in time.
