The Four Worlds International Institute

This is part two of the film Sacred Spaces. Please watch this segment second. Sacred Spaces explores many ideas but centres on the question of, "What is sacred?" Both part 1 and 2 consist of a series of interviews with Indigenous leaders (collected at the Indigenous Leadership Gathering in Lillooet, BC, 2010). The leaders all speak on the subject of, "What is sacred and can the sacred be expressed in film?" The expression of the sacred in film is paramount to sharing the message about the sacred. Sacred Spaces explores the idea of sharing indigenous knowledge, in particular the experience of "the sacred," in film. Sacred Spaces asks questions about film being a viable and culturally appropriate method to share information about the sacred to the world at large.

In addition to speaking to Indigenous leaders at the gathering in Lillooet, Sacred Spaces also shares testimonials from filmmakers and audience participants who have been involved with films about the sacred.
