I came across this article this morning and it pertains to the development of a "safer" clean up material for nuclear waste. The details are lacking as might be expected, but it makes me wonder if it really renders the nuclear material this stuff picks up safe and no longer reactive. I doubt it, but there is no way to refute the findings. Perhaps one of you is capable of understanding the chemistry in this study.

Well, I have to admit my reference to Michigan State University was wrong. The University of Michigan is the one where the study is being conducted. But in my search last night, I found 2 more studies, one in Germany and the other in the Pacific Northwest. …Continue
