Sometimes even men have wisdom! LOL! We cannot control or have influence in what others may or feel, can only pray for them. I have spent most of my life living in a world that refused to understand, refused to give any credence to an Apache! (How barbaric!) Well I had a choice, either feel hurt and/or anger or I could pray and forgive. I chose forgiveness. As we pray and put no energy into negativity, things change. Those who are meant to become part of your circle will begin to appear. Let your mother go, open your heart, let love enter.

I hope that some day we can have the enjoyment of good belly laughs together! Elders in my family who were naturally inclined to laughter, are all gone now. I just had the thought that maybe they are still at it in nature, when I sense that encircling feeling of good humor, and the gentle nudging of teasing, so I can laugh at my own mistakes, misgivings and seriousness. It just happened the other day and was so spontaneous, it felt like my spirit was being tickeled. Thank you for your beauty, diane.

hi diane, no need to apologize. After I made the mistake of misreading your blog, I had a good laugh (which I really needed), then I reread your message and heard what you meant. But it got me thinking today, about how important laughter really is to healing. Many years ago when I got sick, all of the spirit worlds were teaching me to remember who I am. I haven't heard many people refer to the humor that plant medicines are able to express. In my doctoring experiences, the way people think (old patterns) are the biggest blockages to healing. The humorous antics of plant spirits can help us laugh.

Thank you Diane for your writing. I love listening to you. Through your words in print...big heart spirit is transmitted for all of us to feel. At first, I misread the last sentence before the title of your poem, to read that laughter is our Traditional Medicine. In my experience of our family gatherings and indigenous peoples, laughter is always included for the best medicine, like yours.

You just keep on moving forward and know that you are right. Do not do anything in life because you worry about being accepted. Know that you are free.

It seems to me that she was teaching you all along (your Grandmother). Many times that which is not said is the strongest lesson. Normally if we want to learn tradition, no matter what it is, we approach our Elder with tobacco and a handshake. This is tradition. When the Elder accepts your gift they are acknowledging that you are willing to learn and they are willing to teach.

Dear Diane, May we share this walk of life in this Sacred Circle. May our vision of peace, unity, and caring support us as we strive for a better life for all of creation.
