In a few words, please tell us why you would like to join our community:
I've liistened to Chief Phil Lane speak on TalkShoe and he mentioned this website therefore sparked my interest. I am a Metis Canadian and I know very little about the native part of me and I'm seeking to find answers. I was placed in a foster home of white people at the age of 7 and wasn't taught anything about my native side. With the internet I've managed to find many beautiful american songs that have inspired me. I guess I can say that my ultimate goal is the need to know.

Kansans are used to beautiful sunsets – it’s one of the characteristics that help define the Sunflower State.
But the show Mother Nature put on last Thursday night in southwest Kansas had even veteran sky watchers in awe.
There was a horizon-to-horizon rainbow to the northeast, a “sun pillar” to the northwest, and “virga” – wisps of precipitation (such as snow or ice) streaming down from a cloud but evaporating before reaching the ground.
“I’ve never seen one – a full rainbow” in December in southwest Kansas, said Jeff Hutton, warning coordination meteorologist for the Dodge City branch of the National Weather Service.
“It was spectacular,” he said. “I sat out there watching, my jaw dropped to the ground.”
All of us who are Native, or part Native, carry within us the pain and memories of our ancestors. It is not our job to live in this pain but to transcend it. All true healing begins with forgiveness. That is the road you must embark upon first. All that exists is within the circle of the Medicine Wheel:good, bad, ugly, beautiful, health, pain, etc.We cannot make any of these things disappear, they provide the contrast that empowers our freedom of choice. Recognizing this enables us to forgive those things that we do not like in others and in ourselves for none of us is "perfect". Part of being human is to feel all of our emotions. Our emotions are a give from God. They help guide us on our journey to self/God. When we have negative emotion, we know that we are moving away from who we are so that we can make changes. Healing this pain begins with you, empowering you to help others choose the same road.
Hi Whispergently, You only have to be there and cannot solve the live for someone else, everybody has his own path to walk, but being there in love for yourself and the other is enough, everyone has his own responsability; able to respond to lifesituations.
