Aanii! (I honor the life that is in you)
Miigwech for inviting me to this site. I have long honored Phil's efforts in bringing our indigenous populations together to address the conditions our Mother Earth is encountering.
I am a 64 year old Odawa and Lakotah Elder, not because I say so, but because this is what I have been called. For the past fifty years I have been involved in Native issues as an activist and advocate for indigenous rights. My grandfather and father experienced the boarding school and the residuals of their experience was evident in our family. Over the past twelve years in my ongoing research we began, as a family to address these conditions. We are healthier, soberer and happier than we have ever been as a family. Realizing that the conditions were not unique to us only, I developed a program and travel around the U.S. as a presenter educating audiences about history as we knew it.
In a few days my wife and I will celebrate our 42 year together. We have seven children and fifteen grandchildren. I am a Native musician with my second CD soon to be released, a Native author with my second book available on Amazon.com, a Native Artisan and presenter regarding historical trauma.
Miigwech for having me here.
