This began amid the hills and small towns of upstate New York where winters are long and I enjoyed many hours gazing into the starry night sky wondering about everybody. I became early on interested in astronomy and cosmology and later, in the evolution of consciousness and nondual religious traditions. I love the terrains of cosmos, Earth and the different ways of meaning. Throughout, I’ve been an amateur explorer. My foremost adult relation with this material comes from extensive reading, fellowships, and having lived in China and Alaska as well as diverse US settings including my present home in Seattle. Connected with this have been an interdisciplinary Ph.D. and publications with such titles as “Ecohumanism: The Spontaneities of the Earth, Ziran, and K=2,” and “Contemplative Ecology” in the Journal of Chinese Philosophy, a book on consciousness and culture titled By the Torch of Chaos and Doubt, and another book underway on the themes of contemplation, cosmogenesis and sustainability. My previous graduate teaching has been in transdisciplinary and intercultural liberal studies, including Whole Systems Design and Environment and Community programs. I am partnered with a lovely woman who writes beautiful novels and teaches Italian, and delight in a daughter, a grand daughter, and Stella, who pretends to be a cat. For more information, please see
