My life's work is supporting people with addiction problems. People with addiction problems are negotiating their many shadows. The shadows fool them into thinking they can 'beat' their feelings by drinking/drugging and at some point they will go away. Usually the person with the drinking problem goes away. 'When agreements are made and kept, trust grows'. I came across a chart that points that out. (Ron Classen) Love, Forgiveness, Mutual Recognition and the Commitment to be Constructive are on the chart. Caring, Valuing are there too. - As a Metis medicine woman it is important to stay in touch with my brothers and sisters in community. I have a MA in conflict resolution, work with at-risk kids in juvenile justice and homeless on the streets. Love, Forgiveness and Recognition

Medicine Woman Poem
Dear Ones--I wrote a poem a year ago after working with addicted, at-risk youth in juvenile jail system and with homeless street youth. My heart breaks for these children and their parents. So much suffering. The people that could help them work with their hands tied. The people with money and power can't see or don't want to see what is possible and what really needs to be done. Maybe in helping our young ones we need to help heal the ones they look to..us. Phil's Fourth Way and 16 Principles would make a lot of sense to those young ones you work with. Deloria Many Grey Horses, Phil's daughter, has a Digital Youth Group here on Four Worlds...check it out...my sons , 2 Hats and Starwalker, ..belong to it...it is still being build at foundation level but we can encourage our youth to connect there, in a safe place, a positive environmen...if you click on councils above you will see the DYC-Digital Youth Group. You are more than welcome to join and become part of the guiding force there as well. I am so very fortunate that my sons are awesome young men that never fell to the dark path, even with all they have been through (domestic violence, losing their baby sister to cancer and their stepfather to the dark path after we lost Mimi). We walk together with the strength of our ancestors, those who came before us, those who walk with us in this world, and those yet to come...we are all connected...spiritually. Tell your youth Creator lays their path before them but atleast they get to choose the scenery. Listen to their hearts not the broken ones who pass on their pain. hope and love, Firewoman
