Greetings Francis Medicine Story Talbot. Your thoughts and heartfelt wisdom in the comments you wrote about "Children and Elders" inspired and allowed me to remember the value of every aspect of community..... from the youngest to the oldest. I served my mother almost every day for three or four hours a day, for nearly nine years after she had a debilitating stroke, and was paralyzed on her right side, and had increasing dementia, and had to be sent to a nursing home. I witnessed how her stroke was a very beautiful blessing, though. She was able to open to a new deep dimension of love and sharing from her heart that I never felt or experienced from her prior to her stroke. For nine years at a nursing home, I experienced the wonderful gifts that the elderly have to give us in the autumn of their lives..... even when they become physically debilitated or sick. Their wisdom is inspiring, but even greater than that is their pure intention, love, and prayer. They have had to detach from their bodies more and more, as time goes by, and identify with their pure spirit more and more. They become a pure channel of prayer, blessings, and love..... their is such great healing in this for all of us. I moved through so many inner blocks and issues by being there completely for my mother. I was sanctified by her grace. I was humbled by her love and faith and compassion and sweetness. She gradually became a child once again in need, and I became a new person through her love. My mother could hardly be understood after her stroke, but her language of love showed me the sweetness of life and the value of all human beings in their final years on earth.... and most of all, I was shown the value of my Self. Through the experiences with my mother, I learned how important it is to stay totally focused and be there fully with whomever I am with each and every day..... to give my entire heart, attention, and awareness to whomever I meet me each day. That is the gift we all have to share with one another..... being there completely with each other...... sharing our love as if it were our last hour... to see God and that Light in each other..... to immerse ourselves in that sacred space and live in that space.
