oh - Aboriginal communities I danced in were around Northern Territory, Aust, in the 1970s.

Sobey - I danced with the local people in several places in Papua New Guinea and Aboriginal communities (due to my father's work as an educator and going to school opening ceremonies when I would spend the time with a local family while he was doing his work) from age 6 to age 13.  This has influenced my path for my whole life.  Look forward very much to hearing more about your work and path.  Cedar x

Hi, not sure what sacred dance that was but curious. There were some Paiute involved in opening and closing ceremony and some sunrise and sunset fire ceremonies.

Haven't heard of that project or those wonderful beings.

Get well soon! Off to a rite of passage at sunset.

OK I heard from a good source that the organizers were working with tribal council to have a sacred dance.  I caught wind of it and called to offer any help.  I felt a pull to go out there but I changed my direction and went to Mt. Shasta instead for the eclipse.  It was awesome.

Do you know of the Salt Song Project and Vivinne Jake and Matt Levias?  Vivienne is Northern Pauite and Matt is Chemehuevi.  He also heads up the organic farm on the Rez in Parker.

I have a terrrible summer cold...sorry for the delay..

Thank you Carol for your comment and welcome to the council. I am curious to learn more about what your connection with Symbiosis was. I have been involved in discussions with those seeking to learn from that experience in relation to being on Paiute reservation land.

I am currently preparing a rite of passage ceremony for a young woman who is transitioning out of drinking and partying lifestyle towards a more spiritual calling. Any input on that subject is most welcomed.

Hi Sobey!

I just noticed your blog on the Rainbow Medicine Blanket.  I enjoyed a former post of yours and posted the eclipse video at the Symbiosis event at Pyramid Lake.  I had also connected with their organizers. There was word about a sacred dance there and I felt strong about their vision. I appreciate your invitation and your leadership on Rites of Passage.  I support you!  I thank you for calling the Rainbow Medicine Blanket a heart center on FWII.  I share what comes through me and it is always best when the reader knows I am a real flesh and blood feeling grandmother.  That is I speak from my heart. Please just share your feelings and let them role.  I will be here with you to respond.

hugs and love

Welcome to Madeline and Amy. Thanks for joining this council. Amy, I had a great Venus Transit though it was not visible beneath the overcast skies of Vancouver BC. I did gather with friends and did some ceremony.

Rites of Passage ... i grew up in a culture that was disposable, no ceremony, dance, rites taught and passed down ~ BUT i won't fret ... i'm going to make up my own ceremony day by day ♥ with sweet juicy peace 'n' love of course.  HAPPY AUSPICIOUS DAY of transit, i hope you have great fun and i love you ♥

Greetings, I am based in Vancouver BC and have a life mission to assist in rites of passage. I wish to help recover this cultural practice and help mend our societies that have lost this glue that once kept us resilient. For more about my work go to http://www.sobey.nexialist.org. On this council I hope to meet elders and others who share this interest and have wisdom to share or questions that can lead us to answers that benefit all beings.
