Four World Councils “Heritage Ambassador Team” for Native Am Community Festivals at NC/PA/MD/VA Geography with a Children’s Festival add-on ?

Today, I did a quick internet search in my Virginia community to see how many “Native American Community Festivals” takes place in our region ! I must say I am startled at

The amzing strong interest in “Native American’ cultures in our region on a community level, as evidenced by more than 20 such events I identified taking place each year now !.

Just to give you a feel for what is happening now here, even in places there are no Native Americans, either pow-wow or “Native Flute Music’ or some other forms of  Native

American festivals are taking place every year here.

It’s amazing to me that in Virginia, there are no more Cherokees any longer. They did live here once in history. Yet, today, I found several Cherokee Festivals taking place here in  Virginia where there are still 8 state recognized remnant Native American tribes ?

Question: Should we not talk about sending a “Four World Heritage Amassador Team” from our existing councils, focusing particularly on a “Native Am Children’s Festival’ add-on

to at least some of these community event starting 2011 ?

I quess I am a native American, even though I only have a small percentage of Iroquois in my family tree. I was born on American soil. My parents were WASP, racists with European bloodlines, but none of that changes the fact that I am a native of this soil. But once again, I view myself as an Earthling and thusly, my clan includes everyone. If we don't all embrace this love towards our Earthly family, how will we ever create peace?

Discussion: This is wonderful philosophy. But diversity of culture and celebrating ethnic voices are important pursuits as is the proposal we are discussing, in reference particularly to the Native Am culture.

By being a "eathly family', and we can stil be connected to that 'earthly famly' via our 'ethnic heritage' ? can you please be a little more specific as to what is 'actionable here' and howe best to move forward or terminate this proposal as this council should direct ?

Your point is well taken. Celebrating our oneness and celebrating our cultural differences can happen simultaneously. If that is the intent and not separating the "Natives" from the others - then I am all in. My son's school did a great presentation this year about Japanese culture and what they have experienced as far as racism. But it was meant to bring people together and to end racism. Is that the intent of your gathering? To help Native children celebrate their heritage and show them how to lovingly bring those pearls to the community as a whole. If so, it will greatly serve in bringing us closer.

I have experienced a lot of similar events in the black community. Unfortunately, the message is usually about how they are victims and the bad guys are outside their circle. I think it just causes more separation. My apologies if I brought those experiences to your agenda without giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Yes. I think, at least for our area here in Virginia, "racism" is not a major problem any longer as was the case that was a key issue in the Civil War and the century folowing it.

We remember the Civil War as a major 'memory' of suffering and pain. After that we had World War I, and World War I, racism was an issue then.

But now, biggest challange for us here in Virginia region is (1) knowledge economy and bringing all 'ethnic voices", young people in particular for each heritge to make the commuitment necessary to allow them to be part of the knoweldge economy that is surely already upon us ! (2) assoicated with the "Knowledge Economy' pursuit, we want quality of life, that does not put one culture as a 'superior' to another culture, but respect all cultures. and allow all culturers, no matter how small, to enable for them to survive the powerful forcess of mass culture commercialism, and retain their identify.

That is the key focus I see for this proposed request to the Four World Council for 'actionable knowledge' , beyond philosophical dicussions. This requires 'action' , not just philosophical discussions !

Red Road Pottery Trail Add-On/Four World Councils “Heritage Ambassadors Team” to Native American Festivals

Summary: Previously In this Earthtech Council discussion, a proposal for a “Heritage Ambassadors Team” to now annual Native Am
Festivals in Virginia geography was made.

The Earthtech Council element can be an important anchor to this initiative to include strengthening spirituality based artistric traditions such as pottery making. Here in Virginia region, for example, such pottery making tradition exists among certain rememnant tribes as the eastern Cherokee Nation. Such artisitic pottery can include a technolgy element.

For example, energy saving lighting for artistic table lamps, flower vase and other functional pottery for home & work enviroments.

This “Red Road Pottery Trail” can also be included to promote eco-tourists to Native Am communities in similar succesful program
that is now in existence for quilts here in VA-NC geography.

I think the pottery is amazing. I believe art and music are truly the best ways to educate. I love the Earth-friendky lighting component.
