How can the field of psychology help to move society to "The Fourth Way?"

I would like to hear ideas from people familiar with the U.S. psychological profession as to the greatest resources and barriers for the actualization of my vision, as I am only a doctoral student.

In summary,  I believe some psychological theories (i.e., Narrative, Existential, and Transpersonal) have opened the door to a new role that the profession of psychology may play in the world- specifically, to free humanity from the "Dominant Truths" that restrict and distort our experience, develop our full human potential, and UNITE us against the current problems. I believe the field of psychology, with its clout and involvement in nearly every aspect of our lives, has the potential to influence mediums of Dominant Truths to change their messages to society. 

The field is currently dominated by theories that locate the problem within individuals rather than in the culture. In this sense, it is contributing to the insidious belief that humans are naturally "wrong," and that we must rely on "professionals," authorities, and finances to be safe and happy rather than trusting ourselves or eachother.
